Some 2.46 million Israelis -- 44% of adults above the age of 20 -- are defined as "available," according to new figures provided by Central Bureau of Statistics • More men than women are single, with 958 bachelors for every 798 bachelorettes.

More and more Israelis are living the single lifestyle these days, by choice or otherwise, according to new figures provided by the Central Bureau of Statistics.
While Israelis prepare to celebrate Family Day (formerly Mother's Day) this weekend, the new figures paint a picture in which the "family unit of one" has reached social prominence.
According to the statistics, 2.46 million Israelis -- 44 percent of adults above the age of 20, almost half the adult population -- are defined as "available." Of these, 1.16 million are men and 1.3 million are women.
Out of all the "available" adults, 1.75 million are defined as singles who have never been married -- 952,000 men and 798,000 women. This means that one in three adult Israelis is single and has never been married.
